We are very please to announce that winner of MAKE YOUR MAKE Competition is our MIA (Mia Nisbet) who we have been mentoring her over this summer.
We are so delighted that MIA won the Competition! It was lovely to have her in our studio and working with her. I am sure she will do well from now on! MIA’s clothes were based on the use of recycled and second hand clothes from Malawi so there were traditional textiles interspersed with rough and ready street styles. MIA is the one to watch!!

Junky Show Off
February 2008
Fresh from last year’s 10th anniversary celebrations, Junky Styling is pleased to present ‘Junky Show Off’ : An exhibition of clothing art. The event will be featured on LIVING TV’s controversial 3rd series of ‘Britain’s Next Top Model’ with the contestants competing for a slot on the ‘Junky Show Off’ catwalk . (To be aired June 2008)
Taking the opportunity to show what is possible if there are no restrictions or boundaries in the process of recycled clothing construction, Junky Styling present creations that display an abundance of repeated detail, and vivid forms. These pieces scream out individuality & exploit and explore the features and finer qualities found in tailoring.…..With the femme fatale and dark side of love heavily influencing the designs.
Junky Show off will be taking place on Monday 11th February at the ultra-chic restaurant ‘The Brickhouse’ at the Truman Brewery, Brick Lane. The live soundtrack will be performed by London’s own, surreal electonica band ‘My Toys Like Me’.
Look out for Junky Styling on BBC 2’s ‘Mary Queen of Shops’ [changing the way Britain’s Boutique’s see their dead stock], aired in March 08. They will also be featured on the BBC 1’s ‘The One Show’, aired in May’08
London’s very own ‘Recycling Pioneers’ Junky Styling, have been trading out of the uber cool Truman Brewery in the heart of Brick Lane, for the past 10 years. Annika Sanders and Kerry Seager’s joint talents on a sewing machine & eye for detail have transformed unaccounted reclaimed garments into chic, elegant, sought after fashion.
On the evening of Thursday 20th September on Dray Walk, Brick Lane, Junky Styling are integrating the top names in ethical and organic lifestyle in their ‘Community’ catwalk event – a visual splendour, suitably pleasing on the eye’s and ears: Styled by David Holah of Bodymap fame; Hair by Vision; Make Up by Shu Uemura; Shoes by Terra Plana & Beyond Skin.
Musically, your ears will enjoy the joyful sounds of Jimmy K-Tel of SanchoPanza as well as the ever-clever sound of the Unabombers, complete with a live PA with the soulful sounds of Amp Fiddler.
Along side Junky Styling’s ‘Community’ catwalk event, Annika & Kerry are proud to team up with Tamsin Blanchard (Fashion Editor, Telegraph Magazine), for the launch of her long awaited book, ‘Green is the New Black‘. With a foreword by British born Super Model Lily Cole, ‘Green is the New Black’ has been tipped to be the ‘Bible’ for any ethical fashionista & a must read for all.
September’s event will be a celebration of projects past, present and future, pulling together a ‘Community’ spirit, showing familiar faces on the catwalk, and showcasing innovative, unique designs, synonymous with Junky Styling.
Kiehl’s was founded as an old-world apothecary in New York’s East Village neighbourhood over 150 years ago. Throughout the years, they have remained dedicated to providing patrons uniquely efficacious skin and hair products through the most attentive, personalized service. Kiehl’s are joining hands with Junky for this event along with ‘Stolen Space‘ East London’s Leading Contemporary Urban Art Gallery, who will reinterpret the front of the Junky Shop with the fresh styles of their in-house artists.
Junky Styling would like to thank the following for their generous participation in ‘Community’: Divine Chocolates, Infinity Foods, Juniper Organic Gin, Cafe Direct, The Old Truman Brewery, and Brother.
